Project Name: Revit Detail Library Development - Details Package

Disciplines: Architectural Documentation & BIM Detailing

Deliverable: Revit File (ACC) - Construction Details developed to Firm Standards

Input Data: Detail Package PDFs, Abbreviations & Symbols reference, CSI Masterformat list, Firm Revit Family Templates & Detail Library

eLogicTech developed a comprehensive package of Revit construction details for a Dallas-based architectural firm, working directly to the firm's established BIM standards and using their proprietary Revit family templates. The engagement required strict adherence to the firm's detail library structure, naming conventions, and documentation standards — ensuring all outputs were seamlessly integrated into their active project environment on Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).

Client Challenge

Architectural detail production is one of the most time-consuming and standards-sensitive tasks in BIM documentation. Detail libraries must be consistent, precisely built to firm standards, and immediately usable by project teams without rework. For firms with established proprietary standards and templates, finding a BIM partner capable of working within those constraints — not around them — is the real challenge.

Key project challenges included:

  • All Revit details required strict adherence to the firm’s own proprietary standards — not generic industry templates — using pre-supplied family files and a firm-specific detail library
  • The detail package encompassed a broad range of construction detail types requiring interpretation from PDF reference documents and translation into Revit detail components
  • CSI Masterformat classification and firm abbreviation/symbol standards had to be consistently applied across all detail sheets
  • Outputs needed to be delivery-ready directly into the firm’s ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud) environment — no reformatting or re-integration work on the client side
  • Maintaining visual and technical consistency across all details while working remotely from the client’s office environment

The client needed a BIM team that could operate as a true extension of their documentation workflow — absorbing their standards, working within their templates, and delivering Revit details that looked and behaved exactly as if produced in-house.

Scope of Services

eLogicTech delivered a complete Revit detail development service, working from the firm’s provided reference documents, templates, and library files to produce a construction-ready details package.

Core Services Included:

  • Interpretation and translation of PDF detail package into Revit construction details
  • Development of all Revit details using the firm’s OBA Detail Item Template (standard and line-based Revit families)
  • Population and extension of the firm’s existing OBA Detail Library in Revit
  • Application of firm’s abbreviation and symbol standards across all detail components
  • CSI Masterformat classification applied to all detail items per the firm’s specification framework
  • Multi-level quality review to ensure all details met firm standards before delivery
  • Final Revit file delivered directly to the firm’s ACC environment, ready for immediate project use

BIM Execution & Documentation Approach

A standards-first workflow was applied throughout the project. Every detail was built inside the firm’s own template and library structure, with consistency checks embedded at each stage to ensure all outputs integrated cleanly with the client’s existing documentation environment.

Phase 1 - Standards Intake & Reference Review

  • Full review of the firm’s Detail Package PDF, Abbreviations & Symbols reference, and CSI Masterformat list prior to any modeling work
  • Firm’s OBA family templates (standard and line-based) and existing Detail Library studied to understand structure, naming conventions, and graphical standards
  • Detail types catalogued and scope confirmed with client before production commenced
  • Any ambiguities in the PDF reference material clarified with the client’s project contact upfront

Phase 2 - Revit Detail Development

  • Each detail developed directly inside the firm’s OBA Detail Item Template families, maintaining graphical fidelity to the PDF reference
  • Detail components built to the firm’s line weight, annotation, and symbol standards throughout
  • CSI Masterformat classifications applied to all detail items per the firm’s specification framework
  • Firm abbreviation and symbol library applied consistently across all detail sheets

Phase 3 - Detail Library Integration

  • Completed details integrated into the firm’s OBA Detail Library Revit file, following the existing library structure
  • Library organization and naming conventions maintained to ensure seamless access for the client’s project teams
  • All detail families tested within the library environment to confirm correct behavior and appearance

Phase 4 - QC Review & ACC Delivery

  • Multi-level internal QC conducted — each detail reviewed for standards compliance, graphical accuracy, and library integration
  • Client review incorporated and any adjustments actioned before final submission
  • Final Revit file uploaded to the firm’s ACC environment, delivery-ready for immediate use across active projects

Deliverables

  • Fully developed Revit details package built to the firm’s OBA BIM standards
  • All detail components created using the firm’s proprietary OBA Detail Item Template families (standard and line-based)
  • Details integrated into and extending the firm’s OBA Detail Library Revit file
  • CSI Masterformat classifications and firm abbreviation/symbol standards applied throughout
  • Final Revit file (ACC) delivered ready for immediate use in active project workflows

Key Challenges & Solutions

Challenge: All details required production to the firm’s proprietary BIM standards — not generic Revit practice — using client-supplied family templates and an existing detail library with established conventions

Solution: Prior to any production work, eLogicTech conducted a thorough intake of all firm-supplied files — studying the template families, existing library structure, symbol standards, and CSI framework in detail. This upfront investment ensured every detail produced looked and behaved as if created in-house by the firm’s own team.

Challenge: Detail content required accurate interpretation from PDF reference documents and translation into Revit-native construction detail components with no original digital source geometry

Solution: Experienced architectural BIM drafters interpreted the PDF detail package, reconstructing each detail natively in Revit using the firm’s templates. Where reference documents were ambiguous, the client’s project contact was consulted before production proceeded — eliminating rework risk.

Challenge: Outputs needed to integrate directly into the firm’s live ACC environment with zero reformatting or re-integration effort required on the client side

Solution: The final Revit file was built, organized, and named precisely to the firm’s ACC project structure and delivered directly into the platform. The client’s project team could access and use the details immediately upon delivery without any additional processing.
